Riverland Youth Theatre’s largest project to date WATER 2013 involved over 350 people of all ages from across the Riverland region in workshops over the past year. Schools, community groups and individuals took part in lantern and puppet making workshops led by RYT and KneeHigh SA and assisted by local artists.
Lanterns, sculptures and large scale puppets were inspired by stories around “water” from the Riverland’s diverse cultural community, bringing to life water myths and legends.
The project culminated in an illuminated lantern procession at Loxton Lights Up and a pageant procession and illuminated river show at the Renmark Christmas Pageant.
The Water project was supported by the Australia Council for the Arts, Country Arts SA through the Regional Arts fund, Arts SA, Multiculture SA, the Loxton Chamber of Commerce and the Renmark Club Christmas Pageant.
