Dancing with Lolo & Papa: starring hip hop duo Anton and Espoir
Two young hip hop boys get together with contemporary dancer and choreographer Anya Mckee to make a new short dance theatre work about men and dance.
Men in Australia can be thought of as unlikely candidates to hit the dance floor, but is this true?
As prominent male figures in community for promoting dance for boys, the duo interview men in their family, Anton’s Lolo and Espoir’s Papa about the secret dances we do, what moves us and how dance makes us feel.
Both this film and short work are off shoots of dance company Dance Makers Collective’s live show DADS and created by Anya Mckee as a company member and cast member of the original live show.

Dancing with Dad: Miri & Alan
This dance film takes the lens of a father and daughter relationship, Mire a professional dancer and Alan, a retired furniture removalist. Two seemingly disparate perspectives on dance and placing them together to celebrate their similarities and leveling their experience. It uncovers the secret dances that we do, what it feels like to move, and what moves us. It speaks to how dance brings people together and helps us heal.
