About

Experience an electrifying fusion of two visionary international talents in this world premiere performance season. Lewis Major, Australia’s rising star in contemporary dance, collaborates live with Blue Violin, founder and first violinist of the Boston String Quartet, conservatory-trained virtuoso, rock and roll maestro and international touring favourite who has helped redefine the contemporary classical scene.

In this breathtaking in-the-round candlelit concert, Major’s dancers move in perfect harmony with Blue Violin’s genre-defying sound. Featuring a thrilling blend of rock energy, iconic power ballads and classical favourites reimagined through virtuosic live violin loops where the boundaries of music and movement dissolve in the soft glow of five hundred onstage candles.

This year’s performance will feature a mesmerizing repertoire, including a reimagining of classic rock favorites such as “Kashmir”, “Footloose”, and “Thunderstruck” . Witness the transformation of iconic tunes like “Free Bird” and “Stairway to Heaven” through the unique lens of the Blue Violin, promising an evening filled with innovation and musical surprises.

“the best rock and roll violinist of a generation” – Music Makers

On the same day experience a unique one-on-one performance in Lien.

In this intimate exchange, one audience member and one dancer come together on an empty stage for a 10-minute encounter. The dancer crafts a spontaneous performance inspired by the pair’s conversation. In that exchange, the identities of both artist and patron are concealed – creating a blind date experience that heightens the vulnerability, connection and wonder of the moment. Lien promises to be an extraordinary performance that will leave a lasting impact on all those who experience it.
