Country Arts SA’s prestigious professional development program for visual artists, NEBULA, is now accepting expressions of interest.
This unique opportunity is available for up to eight emerging artists from across regional South Australia, offering them the chance to attend three days of workshops, forums, and networking events in Adelaide later this year.
Country Arts SA Visual Arts Program Manager Lauren Mustillo described NEBULA as a one-in-a-kind program for regional South Australia.
“Over three days of workshops, forums, and networking opportunities – with some of South Australia’s most brilliant and respected curators, artists and arts leaders – this program unlocks a wide range of professional opportunities and shows artists how to access them.
“We’re looking for emerging or early career artists from regional SA who want to enhance their sector knowledge, connect with peers, and be taken seriously as an artist .”
2023 participant Kirsty Murdock, from Mannum in the Murraylands, said NEBULA had a profound impact on her.
“I had so many doubts about my art and my life as an artist. I feel more at ease, supported, encouraged and motivated. It’s richly rewarding just to have someone (people) believe in you. Gives me such hope.”
This year’s NEBULA will be held from September 3-5, aligning with key arts events, including the Country Arts SA Breaking Ground exhibition outcome at Praxis Artspace. Designed to help emerging and early-career artists based in regional South Australia take the next steps in their career, the three-day event will provide participants the opportunity to form meaningful relationships with other regional and metro-based artists, curators and gallery directors. Previous years have featured writing workshops, gallery visits and curator talks, alongside practical sessions on social media and creating an online profile, and the business side of art with workshops including grants and funding applications.
NEBULA is one of a host of professional development offerings supported by Country Arts SA, including the Breaking Ground award, Intersection and CATAPULT mentorships (delivered in collaboration with Guildhouse).
Expressions of interest are open now and close at 5pm on May 19. Attendance is FREE.
