Point Pearce Digital Storytelling project
Point Pearce was the next Aboriginal community after Ceduna to have Country Arts SA facilitate a new media project to encompass Elders and Youth to tell their stories.
The stories focussed on how to combat racism in the wider community and the youth made up storyboards of their way of life in and around Pt Pearce. Jetty jumping was one of these stories and the children had a great time filming with IPads and an underwater camera to capture this.
A young seal pup also joined in the fun and hung around the jetty watching the children.
David Wilson – originally a Narrunga man- was contracted by Country Arts SA to facilitate this project teaching the community many new skills re filming and editing their work over a period of 2 weeks in the September holidays.
A launch of these works will be showcased soon at Pt Pearce community Hall.
