Summit EOI opens

Regional Arts Australia Summit: Arts and Edges.

Country Arts WA has launched a nationwide expression of interest for artists and arts, cultural and community workers to be a creative and active part of the national Regional Arts Australia Summit: Arts and Edges.

Occurring every two years the Summit is reliably joined by an influential network from across the country and the world. With a 16 year history the Summit is renewed on each occasion by responding to a new vibrant host town, with 2014 being no acceptation.  Between 16th and 19th October delegates will share the experience of desert life through stimulating content, networking, artistic programs and inspiring talks in the unique host city of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Western Australia.

This in-the-know event is at the cutting edge of ideas, culture and art extending a trusting environment of networking, collaboration and knowledge sharing amongst artists, arts and cultural administrators and volunteers, community developers and industry strategics.

The Arts & Edges theme will explore three key topics, each having a keynote presenter and a focus day:

Ben Fox Artistic Director says “The Summit is about interaction, sharing ideas, inspiration and interest. There are some wonderful opportunities to get involved using the Expressions of Interest process. You can apply to get inspired, get doing stuff, show us your work or just get down. I am most excited about seeing how the experimental premier of the Arts Practice Power-Up goes.”

The active participation of artists, community volunteers, arts and cultural workers, community development managers and cultural leaders in the Summit is what will make this event dynamic and inspiring. We are pleased to invite people to become an active and creative part of this exciting event, where they can bring their ideas, skills and experience to a national audience of like-minded people and organisations.

“This is an exciting time for regional arts. It is an opportunity to gather with peers from across the country and share experiences, challenges, be inspired and celebrate what we do and the difference that the arts makes to regional centers across Australia and internationally,” says Jessica Machin, Chief Executive Officer of Country Arts WA.

Artistic Director Ben Fox is curating a creative voyage informed by a National Curatorial Working Party with all members bringing a diversity of views, practice and experience to the table.

This creative voyage will feature international and national keynote presenters, outstanding performances, strategic leadership discussions and master-classes. Ben Fox will be presenting innovative theatre, dance, music, visual arts, writing, film and digital media with a focus on fresh ideas and best practice.
