Part of the Adelaide City Council’s Emerging Curator Program
Craft is often seen as a dirty word in the contemporary art world – Craft Anonymous revels in that dirtiness, and confidently flirts with the betweenness of ‘art’ and ‘handiwork’.
Craft Anonymous brings together South Australian regional and metropolitan textile, glass, ceramic, wood, metal and jewellery artists for an exhibition in the level 1 foyer of the iconic Adelaide Town Hall. This exhibition is part of the Adelaide City Council’s Emerging Curator Program and aims to extend exhibition opportunities for regional artists, to encourage exchange between metro and regional artists and audiences, and support artists’ professional development.
Country Arts SA has partnered with Emerging Curator Polly Dance to facilitate this exciting exhibition, to be launched Thursday 9 April 2015. Following its exhibition at the Adelaide Town Hall, there is the opportunity for Country Arts SA to tour the exhibition to regional South Australia.
Country Arts SA is calling for expressions of interest (EOI) from artists working in regional South Australia in textiles, glass, ceramic, metal, wood and jewellery.
OPPORTUNITY NOTES AND CRITERIA:
- Artists are expected to submit existing artworks as part of the exhibition. In the event that images are indicative please indicate this in your EOI.
- Artworks can be in any ‘craft’ medium, including textiles, glass, ceramic, metal, wood and jewellery. The exhibition is to be held in the large space within the Town Hall foyer gallery, where other catered events are held each week (with tables etc. set up). - Selected artists will work with the ACC Emerging Curator and Country Arts SA’s Visual Arts Coordinator to plan freight, artists’ statements and other exhibition requirements.

- Country Arts SA will offer assistance with freight costs associated with the exhibition.
- There will be a professional development opportunity offered as part of the exhibition, details to be confirmed.
- Artists will be selected based on artistic merit and overall suitability to the curatorial rationale and exhibition space. The ACC Emerging Curator will work with Country Arts SA’s Visual Arts Coordinator and a regional representative to select artists.
- Feedback will be offered following the selection process, but no correspondence will be entered into regarding the selection of artists.
