Funding for Limestone Coast Art Projects

The successful applicants to the Regional Arts Fund, Round 2 which closed August 15 will commence their projects from January 1 2014.

 

Gener8 Theatre in Mount Gambier received funding of $18,973 for Professional writer and director Trevor Ashley to mentor regional writers and directors. They will collaborate and develop a cabaret style theatrical work called “Everyone is Young and Famous Already” which will explore the meaningless and transitory notions of populist fame.

 

Other funding includes $19,978 for stage two of the Healing circles project at Pangula Mannamurna, which will involve member s of the Indigenous  community working alongside mosaic artist Michael Tye and Veronica Hay in the design, creation and installation of a variety of practical and aesthetic  artworks for three healing circles.

 

The newly formed Limestone Coast Symphony Orchestra has also received $5000 funding to come together under the direction of trained orchestral conductor, Angus Christie, who will lead series of workshops for the 64 regional members on a weekly basis for ten weeks

 

Beachport’s Dr Christopher Waite will compose a new orchestral work also under the guidance of renowned conductor Angas Christie for the limestone Coast Symphony Orchestra.  He has received $3585 to help with the project, with the composition to be rehearsed and performed during the 2014 concert season.

 

Country Arts SA manages the Regional Arts Fund in South Australia on behalf of the Australian Government. Assistance is available across all artforms for projects that encourage community participation in regional arts development.

 

The next funding round closes on 15 March 2014, for projects which commence from 1 July 2014.
