Give My Regards to Broadway

There was excitement in the air when four international performers from Broadway and Hollywood added Renmark,  to their planned national tour of Australia.

Seth Stewart, Sharona D’Ornellas, Johnny Ramey and Julie McBride included the Riverland as their only regional stopover thanks to the efforts of local dance teacher, Jacqui Yelland and the Renmark Dance Committee.

Dance students from across the Riverland and even a few dance novices enjoyed a full day of workshopping in jazz, tap, hip-hop, ballet, drama, singing and Bollywood at the Chaffey Theatre on October 13th.

All four performers came from regional backgrounds themselves in the US and Canada and they highlighted the philosophy that anything can be achieved through hard work, dedication, passion and intelligence.

Jacqui Yelland says “This in turn enhances the participants’ sense of self-worth which is so important to a community that would not normally have access to the expertise of these visiting guest teachers. It provides them with confidence to follow their passions in specific performing arts styles and inspires them to continue to learn within their own region”.

The project was supported through a Regional Arts Fund Quick Step grant.
