Clare Valley Community Choir

Hats Inc. (heritage arts and traditions) a not for profit arts /event organisation based in Auburn Clare Valley and is now in its third year of operation. During this period hats has presented 78 live music events featuring musicians from all around the world as well as interstate artists and local performers. Hats has also presented two small music festivals run a bush/music camp presented two Country Arts SA “Shows on the Road” programs and its latest project is the formation of a community choir.

This choir was inspired by two visiting choirs to the Courthouse from Adelaide last year both of whom encouraged us to start our very own choir and also the obvious need from within our community, judging from the interest we always received from people whenever hats ran any singing type workshops.

Although in its infancy, starting in April this year the choir has attracted great interest with people attending from Balakalava in the south, through to Clare & Waterloo in the north and includes representation from all the country towns in our area. Our choir master is Angus Bugeja. Angus travels from Gawler to take our choir which indicates his passion and enthusiasm for both music and choirs, and just to help us, make this happen. Angus as well as being young, and talented comes with considerable community choir experience and is currently librarian and music facilitor at Owen Primary school along with being chief conductor of the Northern primary schools Music festival.

Our choir is open to the experienced and the non-experienced singers, and like one choir member said “ singing is good for the soul” so come and give it a try.

Our choir meets every 2nd & 4th Mondays at the Courthouse (4 st. Vincent Street) Auburn at 7pm .  Cost $5.00

Our next meeting is Monday May 27th if interested please send email to [email protected] or call Cherie on 8849-2420
