South Australian artist Edmund H Baggs’ rare historic stage backdrop is being stabilised by Artlab to its’ original condition thanks to the commitment of the Cambrai Hall committee. This 1930’s backdrop is located at the Mid-Murray Cambrai hall.
The conservation process will take several months to complete and cost approximately $7,000. The funds were raised by a small dedicated committee who, after considerable hard work have been able to save this historic art work from further deterioration.
The backdrop is approximately 3.5 metres high by 5 metres long and is believed to be the very last of several landscape backdrops painted by artist EH Baggs.
