The exhibition was the opening event for a weekend of celebrations for the District Council of Streaky Bay’s 125th Anniversary.  Mr. Robert Stephens, Mayor, District Council of Streaky Bay, Rae Brewster, community guest and Zita Chester aka special guest, Her Royal Majesty the Queen of England, attended as official speakers at the event.  Each told tales of local government history and jetty musings which depicted the unique fabric of the community over the past 125 years.

On Saturday 19 October community came out on the foreshore for a day of fun activities such as jumping castles, a merry go round, a bucking bull, a Velcro wall and sumo suits.  Community groups assisted to provide old style games, live music, food and refreshments.

More than 170 chose to take a trip down memory lane and stroll through the exhibition.

Local artists and community members contributed artworks and memorabilia for the collection which enthralled all who viewed it.  Many yarns were told and a few mysteries were solved along the way.

Young Ryan Trezona was a clear winner of $300 in the Peoples Choice vote with his intricate and carefully constructed Streaky Bay Jetty, 125th collage.  Ryan hunted high and low in a shed to find his dads very first boogie board before mounting old photos of community and the jetty, some crafty wording and a set of small shark jaws.
