The results of a four month community cultural development project ‘Portraits of the River People’  based in the lower Mid-Murray region, will be on display at the exhibition’s opening on December 6 at the Murray Bridge Art Gallery.

Lead artist Susan Rooney-Harding, mentored four community members and five high school students, teaching them photographic techniques and providing tips and advice on how to best capture images of selected local identities who have had a long association with the River Murray.

The exhibition will showcase the participants work which includes more than 45 colour photographic images, portraying each of the photo’s subjects in the context of their work or passion.  Each character study  is  accompanied by the written story of the person’s life.  The colourful images of these unique characters highlights the diversity of the Mid-Murray community.

The project, devised by Ms. Rooney-Harding, was supported by Mid-Murray Council and funded through the Country Arts Regional Arts Step Up program.
