Country Arts SA is putting the spotlight on a season of arts experiences to bring you joy, awe and laughs in 2024!
Minister for the Arts Andrea Michaels launched some of Country Arts SA 2024 highlights to community members, artists, members of parliament and Ministers at the October 26 at Country Cabinet in Naracoorte.
“Having the honour to launch part of Country Arts SA’s 2024 season here in Naracoorte is a reminder that the arts are a vital part of our communities all over South Australia,” she said “We look to the arts for inspiration, entertainment and at times simply as a distraction from our everyday lives. The arts matter wherever we are. Country Arts SA increases access to the arts for regional South Australian communities and shares unique stories through exceptional art experiences. 2024 is going to be a wonderful year to experience art in every region in South Australia.”

Minister Michaels announced the statewide tour of First Nations dance company Bangarra with their major new work, Yuldea. Directed by Adelaide-born Wirangu and Mirning woman Frances Rings, explores the story of the Aṉangu people of the Great Victorian Desert and the moments traditional life in South Australia collided with the industrial ambition of a growing nation from the meddling of Daisy Bates through to the terrible consequences of atomic bomb testing post World War 2.
In a beautiful work that informs and enchants, we see the Aṉangu endure, determined to keep strong their knowledge systems of land and sky, honouring their eternal bonds of kinship between people and place.
Yuldea will be performed in Mount Gambier, Renmark, Port Pirie and Whyalla.
Country Arts SA Chief Executive Anthony Peluso said, “Each year we look ahead with renewed vigour to another stand-out season and arts opportunities to enrich and enliven regional South Australia. Next year is no exception and we look forward to sharing Bangarra’s exquisite Yuldea across the state. Bangarra is one of the nation’s finest contemporary dance companies bringing inspiring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander experiences that promote awareness and understanding of First Nations culture.”
But wait, there’s more!

Symphonie of the Bicycle is a masterful treat from Brink Theatre, presented by Country Arts SA and State Theatre Company of South Australia. It’s the story of two men from two different times who somehow meet, and in their own way have to get back on the (metaphoric) bike to make meaning of their lives. Symphonie of the Bicycle will tour to Maitland, Burra, Port Augusta, Streaky Bay, Port Lincoln, Keith and Murray Bridge.
360 Allstars was a sell-out hit in 2013 when it toured to Country Arts SA’s regional theatres. Returning in 2024, a new generation will be amazed by the technical feats of this incredible crew of talented artists. Boasting a stellar international cast of World Champion and World Record-holding athletes and artists, don’t miss this chance to witness the global smash hit seen by over 1 million people worldwide.
Through physical theatre, stunning visuals, and a healthy dose of humour, explore our differences to reveal the magic of individuality, Patch Theatre delights with I Wish… People are made of stuff – good stuff and bad stuff, happy and sad stuff, stinky, odd, boring, dangerous, funny, sparkling potions of stuff. People also have secret ingredients – what could your secret ingredient be? I Wish… is an exciting collaboration between Patch Theatre and renowned South Australian circus company Gravity & Other Myths.
The Paper Boats’ Seven Little Wonders is visually spectacular celebration of music, colour and light. It tells the story of Starman Sam and his quest to return home to his loved ones. The seven colours of the rainbow, the seven notes of music along with Imogen and six star children from the audience help StarMan Sam complete his mission. This intimate, interactive and beautiful work by veteran children’s theatre-maker, Dave Brown working with regionally-based artists, Sarah Brokensha and Gavin Clarke is a joy.
Stay tuned for more updates as we roll into 2024!
