WestArts EyreHeads Portrait Prize 2013

Artists across the Eyre Peninsula are encouraged to start putting the final touches to portraits inspired by local characters or people they love and admire for entry in WestArts biannual EyreHeads Portrait Prize, 2013.

Entries close Monday 16 September and the exhibition will be held from Thursday 3 October to Friday 18 October  2013,  kicking off the long October weekend Oysterfest celebrations in Ceduna.

EyreHeads Portrait Prize, 2013 has drawn record sponsorship from the Council,  patrons and local businesses and WestArt is thrilled to announce a wider range of prizes this year, than ever offered before.

Prizes include:

• $1,000, First Prize in the Open category sponsored by the District Council of Ceduna
• $700, Runner Up in the Open category sponsored by the Ceduna Foreshore Hotel Motel
• $300, First Prize 21 years & under (as at June 30, 2012) sponsored by the Ceduna Foreshore Hotel Motel
• $200, Second Prize 21 years & under (as at June 30, 2012) sponsored by Smoky Bay Plumbing and Gas fitting
• $150, Third Prize 21 years & under (as at June 30, 2012) sponsored by MDK Taxation and Accounting
• $300, Peoples Choice Award sponsored by the Blackham family at Ceduna Sportspower
• $250, (Voucher) First Prize in Photography sponsored by Ken McCarthy Chemplus
• $100, Second Prize in Photography sponsored by the Far West Camera Club
• $100, First Prize in Photography, 21 years & under (as at June 30, 2012) sponsored by Smoky Bay Plumbing and Gas fitting

Important dates to remember are:

• Close of entries, Monday September 16
• Delivery of artworks, Friday September 21
• Official Opening, Thursday October 3 at 7:00pm, Ceduna Memorial Hall Foyer Gallery, 33 Poynton Street, (Eastern entrance to the hall).  RSVP is not essential.  Prize-winners will be announced at 7:30pm.
• Exhibition dates, Thursday October 3 to Friday October 18
• Collection of artworks, Saturday October 19 between 10 and 11 am

WestArt was formed in February 2004 with the aim of promoting local artists and the arts in Ceduna. WestArt and volunteers manage the Ceduna Memorial Hall Foyer Gallery.  WestArt works in collaboration with stakeholders such as the District Council of Ceduna, Country Arts SA, the Far West Camera Club and the Tjutjuna (Ceduna) Aboriginal Arts and Culture Centre to support local artists and exhibitions.
