The winners of the fourth annual Malka Aboriginal Art Prize were announced by the Port Augusta Cultural Centre – Yarta Purtli Gallery.
With 42 entries, this year’s exhibition was the largest and most successful Malka Aboriginal Art Prize to date. The Art Prize commenced in 2010 and has quickly become an important Indigenous arts event on the Port Augusta calendar.
Port Augusta City Council’s Arts Officer, Ellenor Day, said the Art Prize has grown steadily over the past four years. “This year we filled both of our gallery spaces with entries and we had an amazing number of youth entries which is great to see. Importantly, the exhibition provides an opportunity to celebrate Indigenous art and culture and it is always scheduled to coincide with NAIDOC Week each year,” she said.
