SALA – SA Living Artists – Local Life

SALA – South Australian Living Artists celebrates Local Life with regional artists showcasing their work in local galleries.

Now in its fourth year, Local Life has had interest from amateur artists across regional South Australia  to showcase what local life means to them with registrations including  sculpture for the first time.
Staged as part of the 2013 South Australian Living Artists Festival (SALA), recently appointed General Manager Penny Griggs sees Local Life as an important project for the annual state wide SALA Festival. “It is a privilege to collaborate with ABC Local Radio and Country Arts SA to discover, acknowledge and celebrate regional creative talent in their local community and beyond” she said. “With a guiding spirit of inclusivity and innovation, Local Life provides a unique opportunity for emerging regional artists to share their work with the wider community” Ms Griggs added.
The public is invited to vote for their favourite artwork to determine the People’s Choice winner, who will take home over $700 in prizes.
Each regional South Australian winner receives a $200 art supplies voucher along with an ABC prize pack, a premium listing in the 2014 SALA Festival program, an annual Craftsouth Associate Membership, mentoring opportunity with Country Arts SA and the winning artwork exhibited at SALA’s 25 August closing event “SALA on Show” in Adelaide.

Five exhibitions are planned across regional South Australia and Broken Hill during August with local artworks on display at regional galleries and centres.
