Support First Nations Program

Our First Nations Engagement Program supports First Nations artists to tell their stories using both traditional and new artforms. Our program helps youth reconnect with their culture through art and encourages more people to participate in art-based activities. To read more about our First Nations Program see here.

Your tax deductible donation to the First Nations Arts and Culture Fund will go directly to the development of new First Nations works.

Why Donate

We all live and create on the lands of the First Nations People of South Australia. Country Arts SA and the Country Arts Foundation are committed to working together to support work produced, curated and crafted by the extraordinary First Nations artists from South Australia. The First Nations Program (FNP) has produced many success stories including new works such as Saltbush Country currently being presented as part of Tarnanthi. This exhibition has been expertly curated by proud Wangkangurru woman, Marika Davies and shares stories of people, community and connection to country from seven artists working independently in regional South Australia.

Wangkanurru woman Marika Davies is the Regional Tarnanthi curator currently living and working in Port Augusta.

“This role helps me see exactly the artists’ needs and use Country Art SA’s networks to help them. Saltbush Country has impacted the artists’ lives, families, communities, and their regions really deeply. Being regional, Aboriginal and working with these artists is so important. They love that it’s been First Nations driven from the start. We are telling the true stories of our communities and our history of our nation; there is healing in that. Thanks to Country Arts SA, being part of Tarnanthi is the most amazing opportunity for the artists.”

— Marika Davies, Tarnanthi Regional Curator
